March 18, 2020- Lobby Only Update

March 16, 2020- Initial Statement

Interstate Credit Union is committed to safeguarding the health of our members, staff, and volunteers. As we monitor the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus), we want to keep you apprised of our actions and policies to keep you protected.

COVID-19, aka Coronavirus, is a respiratory illness that was initially identified in Wuhan, China, and has now been detected in over 50 locations around the world, including the United States. The Credit Union is following the guidance from Georgia Department of Public Health and the Centers for Disease Control recommendations to prevent exposure to the virus by both our members and staff.

We are cleaning frequently touched surfaces more often, including doorknobs, phones, handrails, and counters throughout all our facilities.

We are postponing our Annual Meeting scheduled for March 24, 2020.  More details to come.

Additionally, members are encouraged to use Internet Banking, Mobile App, ATMs, and our Call Center in place of coming into the branch. Please be aware that our hold times may be slightly longer due to the increased volume.

Our branches will remain open for normal business hours.  As we continue to monitor the situation, actions may be taken to restrict branch business solely to drive-thru activity.  Closing branches is our last resort and will only be done in extreme situations.  Please continue to monitor this and our Facebook page for updates.

What can you do

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
  • Follow CDC’s recommendations for using a facemask.
    • CDC does not recommend that people wear a facemask to protect themselves from respiratory diseases, including COVID-19.
    • Facemasks should be used by people who show symptoms of COVID-19 to help prevent the spread of the disease to others. People who are taking care of someone in close settings (at home or in a health care facility) should also wear a facemask.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
    • If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.

Avoid scams

Unfortunately, some people and companies are taking advantage of the fears surrounding the spread of the virus. Do not let fear cloud your judgment when accessing links from emails and social media.
